Why Real Foods

What has happened to our food?

It’s not real anymore.

It’s fake.  A mere imitation of what it’s meant to be.  It’s way too fast, overly processed and just flat out junk.  Too many times it’s manufactured and not grown.  It’s synthetic.  It’s a sham.  It’s bogus.

And at a time when chronic disease is at an all-time high!

Hmmmm…I wonder why?

How about if we travel back in time?

The 1930’s…Weston Price

He studied fourteen primitive people groups from different parts of the world and found no chronic disease, no dental decay, and no mental health problems.

And what did they have in common?

The way they ate.

They all ate seafood or other animal proteins, organ meats, dairy products, animal fats, fruits, vegetables, legumes, nuts, seeds, and whole grains.

But not prepared the way we would prepare them today.

Milk was raw and not pasteurized.  Cows were grass fed and chickens were free roaming.  Antibiotics were not used.  And neither were growth hormones.  Plants were not sprayed with pesticides.   And there were no genetic modifications. And there was no fear of saturated fats.

Food was not fast.

Bones were saved and simmered for hours to make nourishing broths.  Legumes, nuts, seeds and grains were sprouted and soaked.  Some fruits and vegetables were even fermented, as were many drinks.

The preparation of our food took thoughtful planning.

We have come so far from that, all in the name of convenience.  And now it’s time to get back to a more traditional way of preparing our food.

We’re not experts by any stretch of the imagination.  We are just trying to figure out a way to integrate real food preparation into our fast paced society.

We’ll do:

  • the leg work.
  • find the resources.
  • And do the testing to find what works and what doesn’t.
Then we will share our findings with you in this one convenient spot!
